One mistake I made early was treating visibility like progress. A lot of events feel productive, but the actual breakthroughs came after one or two follow-up conversations with people I met through association meetups.

If you are in London, I would ask who is already gathering around Peckham or Woolwich for professional meetups. The strongest rooms are usually the ones where people already know why they are there.
