I am trying to help someone new in Toronto find a church community where they can settle in and meet people quickly. Looking for welcoming communities, not just large attendance.

One thing that helped me was choosing convenience over hype. Being near Etobicoke or another area with actual community movement made the first few months easier than chasing the 'best' place on paper.

If the question is practical, I would start with church communities before anything else. In my experience, those groups share honest advice faster than public posts, especially when housing, groceries, or church communities are involved.

When I first settled in Toronto, the most useful answers did not come from Google. They came from people already living around North York and Scarborough, because they could tell me which places were actually consistent week to week.

My best leads came after one conversation in student housing chats. Once people know you are serious, they usually point you to the names and neighborhoods they would suggest for their own family.
